On March 12, RD-Law 8/2019 on urgent measures of social protection and the fight against precarious work was published, which establishes the obligation for companies to guarantee the registration of the working hours of all workers, as well as the need to keep the records for 4 years, and must remain available to their workers, their representatives, as well as the labor inspection. The entry into force of this obligation will be from May 12, 2019.

Due to this, there are several ways to guarantee this time register:

A.- JOURNAL OF PAPER DAY:

Advantage of this system: economic, easy accreditation.

Disadvantages: document management when several workers, file for 4 years of all the monthly templates of each worker, difficult handling / correction when presenting it to the Labor Inspectorate, possible loss.

B.- CARD MACHINES WITH CARD OR PIN:

Advantages: document management, accreditation before organizations.

Disadvantages: does not work for mobile workers, investment of 300 to 1000 euros per device, modification or management of card or pin, maintenance of equipment, ease of fraud among employees in the signing. Difficulty for workers who do not start their arrival and arrival of the day in the work center of the company.


C.- DIGITAL / OCULAR FOOTPRINT SYSTEM:

Advantages: the same as the machine of card signings, but without the need to manage pins or cards, greater automation and reduction in fraud in the registration between workers "modernity".

Disadvantages: the main disadvantage we find is the treatment of "biometric" data (fingerprints, ocular / facial recognition). There is a negative report from the Catalan data protection agency, so we must take into account the need for information clauses in this regard to workers for the fulfillment of all this.
